ED Coating - Electro Diposition coating
The use of electro-deposition as a methode of painting automobiles has grown rapidaly over the years to such a degree that today all Japanese, most european and about 50% of the U.S. cars are primed using this methode. Prior 1077, all automobiles painted with the electro-deposition process used anodic type.
Cathodic electro deposition was first commercialized during 1971 in the appliance industry. It had very desirable properties of excellent corrosion and chemical resistance, along with many other properties which met the requirements of that particular industry. This cathodic material, however, did not meet the requirements of the automotive industry, particularly in the areas of “throw-power” and compatibility with existing automotive electro deposition system.
